About Homestead Oaks

The Owners and Land

After years in the suburbs David and Kristia got their dream location in rural Western North Carolina in 2018.

Homestead Oaks in Ellenboro, North Carolina is both a homestead with gardens, chickens, goats, and livestock guardian dogs. And it is an LLC for our business ventures which includes SB Marketing & Consulting.

Kristia does a lot of the day-to-day grounds maintenance and gardening while David using his creative talent in marketing and communication.

We love country life with all the joys and rewards it brings from hard work and careful planning.

The Land

The first known European settlers built on our current homesite around 1840, shortly after the Cherokee were forced to move to Oklahoma.

That first family, Lewis Morgan Sparks and Sarah Bridges,  are buried in a family plot not far from the current house.

David and Kristia have found arrowheads on the property presumably of Cherokee origin.
